What we extrude for fenestration

Window, door and curtain wall systems are the most profile-dense products BNA supplies. A single system typically needs six to twelve related sections that all have to fit each other.

Thermally broken mullions and transoms

Box sections with polyamide strip races on both faces, assembled, knurled and crimped before finishing so the composite arrives ready to cut.

Glazing beads and snap-on covers

Thin-wall clip profiles where the springback of the leg is what decides whether the bead stays on the frame in year fifteen.

Typical fenestration specification

  • The thermal break is not a separate purchase. Strip insertion, knurling and crimping happen inside the program, so the composite section is inspected as one part instead of arriving as two that have to be married on your floor.
  • Color that holds across a facade. Anodizing and powder coating are batched against an approved reference rather than re-matched per shipment — a facade shows every shade you missed.
  • Systems, not sections. Programs are quoted as a whole system, so couplers and flashings do not turn up eight weeks after the mullions.

What is a thermally broken aluminum profile?

A thermally broken aluminum profile is two aluminum sections joined by a low-conductivity polyamide strip, so heat cannot travel straight through the frame. The strip is rolled into knurled races in each half and crimped, which makes the assembly structural as well as insulating — the composite behaves as one section once it is crimped.

Which alloy is used for window and door profiles?

6063-T6 is the industry convention for architectural window, door and facade profiles. It extrudes cleanly into complex thin-wall shapes and anodizes to a consistent, repeatable finish, which matters more on a visible facade than the extra strength a 6061 would bring. Send us the alloy and temper your system calls for, or the application, and we will confirm it.

Can you match an existing window system profile?

Usually, yes. Send a physical offcut of the existing section or a dimensioned drawing; the die is developed from that, and first-article samples are approved against your sample before production runs.
